About Us

Primetime is a Children and Young People’s Project based in the local community of BD4. Young people are the focus of everything we do and it is our belief that by offering opportunities for children and young people to develop outside of their home and school life, we are helping to ensure young people are heard, valued and understood locally.

Too many young people do not have the opportunities to reach their full potential as contributors to society and with our support we hope to increase young people’s opportunities to succeed in the future.

The people and centre are committed to the local area and actively do everything in our power to invest in local children and young people, we believe that change does not happen overnight so we are in this for the long haul.

We Promise to

Nurture young people, care for them, protect them while they grow and provide early intervention at critical life stages - toddler to young adult.

Inspire young people to do better by offering opportunity to achieve and by investing in young people to inspire peers.

Empower young people into leadership roles, enabling them to change their lives and the lives of others.

Equip young people with the skills and resources required for leadership roles, employment and life.

Work together with and signpost to others when beneficial, including other vine centre projects and partner organisations.

Our Journey

In 1996 The Vine Trust started its work with young people. In summer 2002 Primetime was the name given to a week of holiday activities, run by volunteer from St Mary’s Church and a number of their teenage children, success led to a term time children’s youth club.

The sessions continued to be volunteer lead until 2006 when a part time children’s worker was recruited to support the session and create a Sunday school. In 2008 a second group was introduced for infants. Although there was little project expansion for a period of time, a firm foundation was being laid and efforts were given to empower young people to lead the sessions.

In 2011 a vision for growth lead to the recruitment of an additional part time worker to run ‘Fresh Expressions’ of church at the centre and in schools.

In 2013, a multi-use church hall was added to our existing Centre. Primetimes first youth drop-in was started by young adult volunteers.

In February 2015 we were able to recruit our first full time worker supported by BBC Children in Need. Soon after (July 2015) further need and contract opportunity lead to the employment of a fourth worker.

Today our 4 highly skilled workers are supported by a team of 40 volunteers, who work together to provide a vast timetable of activities, in schools and in community spaces, for hundreds of disadvantaged young people.
